two world champs, two tag champs, two undercard champs, a cruiserweight champ.... everywhere you look there's a champ. there are even talks of having women tag champs soon. with dual branded ppv's coming every match on the card is likely to be a championship match.

title matches are like gimmick matches, you can run them into the ground. if every match is a cage match, then cage matches don't mean anything anymore. same applies here. when the entire card is made up of title matches... i believe it numbs the audience to the point of indifference.

the IC title match opened mania this year, think about that. when the belt is that meaningless what is the point of even having it be a title match? why does anyone care who the IC champion is? so that they can have the pleasure of being a CURTAIN JERKER!?!?!? might as well take the title out of it.

what say you marks? is this even a problem for you?

if so, what is your solution?

I disagree. There were two title changes recently and the crowd went nuts for both of them (Jeff Hardy US this week and Carmella Women's last week)

Title matches still are "special" in some cases when there is intrigue around the title. But it all comes with writing.

What they need to do is have some sort of ranking system. They are overloaded with talent. If they aren't going to add more titles (I think they should but it's whatever :manny:) then they need to add other stakes. There needs to be a reason the matches are going on. There needs to be motivation. A ranking system would be simple if they did it correctly. People need to want to become the #1 contender.

There need to be #1 contender's matches and tournaments so that all of the talent has a reason to be around. You could've easily had a match featuring Baron, Tye, Shelton, Orton, Rusev and someone else to set up the "#1 contender for the US title after the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV". But instead we got Shelton vs. Hardy and one of the Usos vs. one of the Bludgeon brothers :francis:

Miss when the IC title was actually a stepping stone to main event status. Warrior Shawn and razor Ramon days... Then Jeff Jarrett won it and it went to shyt

Although I think the last great IC title fued was HHH and Rock and elevated both

This is what gets me because we know that the mid card means nothing. No excuse that Miz isn’t a World title contender now.

Those were the only title matches on the show.

Also ppl aren’t accustomed to titles being defended on weekly TV so when it happens it’s a big deal

I guess I was quoting you and responding to "are there too many champs" and I brought up a point about how title matches were still a big deal. I don't get your point.

There aren't too many champs if the titles still get people excited I guess.

I don't think they have a strong enough tag roster to have 2 tag champs

Should have 1 men's and 1 women's tag champs with each brand fighting over who gets it

Make an occasional random pairing for the sake of getting the title back to their respective brand

The rest are ok but they need to make people really want the midcard title and not look at it like it's "good enough until I'm in the main event"

Maybe kayfabe leak the US title holder is the highest paid in the company or some shyt then it'd make sense to the fans why people would want that vs the world title

IC title sells itself being the only title left that has a link to the old WWF

While I'm all for 1 World Title, 1 Tag Title & 1 Women title and have the champs defend on both brands (this was when there was a brand split PPV's. Reason being you have your TV time set up who will challenge the champs at the PPV and unless the title changes hands, the champs can move on to the next feud). Its not that there is too many titles, its the same rinse and repeat match ups that goes on for months and months, which will have some sort of tag variations, thrown in to change it up, that is the problem.

Like the Miz & Lean Dean feud, I dont know how long it went on for, but it felt like continued over on both brands for like a 12-18 months. In this era, you cannot have the same rinse and repeat feud for months on end like the old days, because you have more TV time and monthly PPV's. For some reason Vince and Co havent grasped this reality. Orton & Jinder should of been wrapped up in 4-6 weeks. but it went on for May till Aug and spanned over 3 PPV's.

I agree that he is a mid carder through and through, but he was and has been on fire in the past year or so. Elevate him to the World title picture even if it's for a little while. Imagine a Miz stable feuding with D-Bry for the World title where he always win by some cowardly or external means up until Wrestlemania or Summerslam or something.

Another thing that I agree with. Every feud should have some sort of indirect best 2 out of 3 feel to it. 3 PPVs for a feud to end (for the most part). That shyt with Miz and Dean was terrible and unbearable. Even this shyt with Roman and Brock is unbearable.
