It has nothing to do with someone not liking the same shyt because there are people on here like
@jerniebert and
@mannyrs13 who prefer AEW but don’t get offended by the jokes/criticism and don’t start static over someone having different opinions. It’s like
@Silkk was saying the other day, last Weds he posted how much he liked Dynamite and said imagine how much better it would be if all the guys not on TV were added in too and one of the AEW stans STILL got offended over that
I do like AEW a bit more cuz they more if the underdog & want them to be successful but also want WWE to do well as well. I just be watching both the fans way each time, half paying attention and half on a device either browsing here or looking at social media or crypto stuff. There could be something mentioned and i see it after and i be like when the hell did that happen.
One recent example was the Mercedes and Anna Jay fight. I saw AEW tweeted it after & I'm like why didn't they say anything during the promo when both were on dynamite earlier that night. I go back to see thru it again and saw they did have the graphic shown on the tv. I'm like oh ok guess I'll erase my twitter comment.
What I have thought of, which is why I would like AEW to succeed, is what happens if they don't. A lot has changed in the past 25 years or so since WCW ended. In both wrestling and outside of wrestling. WWE has grown into a worldwide phenomenon. Not like they weren't big back then but they weren't even doing stadium shows for mania or any event. Or having as big a presence overseas.
Not to mention that a lot of the wcw guys didn't switch over to wwe. So I'm imagining if AEW ends whether by themselves or bought out by WWE or however if it stops being completely in operation. Obviously just the bts folks gonna be affected off the bat since the other companies like wwe have people doing those jobs. Not to mention the lost revenue from arenas but they could find other clients to book events with. Not a lot of 52 week a year touring companies like that tho.
But then also the wrestlers. WWE won't be able to get all of them. Who knows if any of the ex WWE guys would even want to go back. But the big names would def get some interest. I'm sure WWE would have eyes on some of their former talent as well as guys like Ospreay, Hangman, Jay White and even younger guys like Darby, DG, MJF, etc.
Now i don't think i was paying as much attention when wwe bought wcw, think i had started to fade away at the time but I'm sure when the wcw and even ecw guys came in it had a big impact on the wwe stars and their tv time. I'm sure the same would happen if it were aew.
The financials would be the biggest factor. Bringing in new talent that's of higher quality than some of their own would def lead to roster cuts cuz they can't afford all those free agents to not have them shown often on tv. Also considering they cut the live events down so they don't have the events to fill with all the new talent. Can't put them all in nxt either cuz then that takes time from those stars.
So then the ones affected are the consumers mostly. WWE would need to raise prices to be able to afford all the aew guys they may acquire. Whether that be thru ticket sales or however they do. Likely ticket sales cuz that's one of their biggest revenue generators. We already hear stories about international ple being expensive and even mania for vegas is expensive, and I'm sure future events will be more money than before.
So circling back to how things have changed since wcw, going to the outside of wrestling part, a big piece being the economy & inflation. Looking at it from that perspective I'm like with less competition and how much they have grown, what's stopping WWE from getting more expensive than they already are?
Imagine they be like ok we're signing all these top new stars now that aew gone and we're gonna get rid of some of our lesser utilized or lesser paid talent. Def would have a big impact on the company and industry.
WWE is successful because of the fans support but increasing their size too much would not be good if the prices end up being too high for the fans to enjoy the show. Bad enough now we gotta pay for netflix and peacock to watch. Luckily both have other programming on there as well. But who knows what the future may bring or any price hikes.
So that's kinda why i want aew to succeed cuz a big monopoly in the business may not end up doing so well these days. Especially as a publicly traded company cuz the shareholders not gonna want them to cut costs and hurt their stock value.
I could prolly think of more but i ranted long enough. Need to go look at some crypto stuff instead.
