The missed opportunity for some of the martial arts stars that aren't the best actors is ...
Playing the villain. The hero has the carry the acting load for the most of the movie. A bad guy can have 5 minutes of screen time like darth maul and still carry the film. Just show up at the beginning mean mug, whoop some ass. show up at the end mean mug some more whoop a little more ass and suddenly you're iconic.
