Nephew ain’t shyt, got Auntie caught up in his bullshyt
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - An elderly Toledo woman claims a contractor scammed her out of thousands of dollars and bought a bar with the money.
Police arrested Tyrelle Lawrence for allegedly scamming a 74-year-old elderly woman out of thousands of dollars. According to a call to police, Lawrence was hired to fix up a home.
Caller: “I had a house and the house caught on fire, and this contractor said that he can put it together and I’ve been waiting patiently for a year for him to do something. I believe I’ve been scammed.”
Dispatcher: “How much did you pay him?”
Caller: “Too much.”
Dispatcher: “Can you give me just a round about dollar amount?”
Caller: “$153,000″
Dispatcher: “Oh ma’am.”
The elderly woman said the work on a home on Belmont Avenue was supposed to be done by December of 2023.
According to a court document, the Key Bank check was made out to Lawrence’s business “Bankroll Housing CFN” and he allegedly used the money to buy a bar called the Upscale Bar and Lounge.
Lawrence is denying the allegations.
“If you know me, you know my character not to take from nobody, especially not an older person,” said Tyrelle Lawrence.
He said his bar has nothing to do with this legal matter.
“I still got the money. I still have my funds that I have to do the work. I still went in the house and did the work,” said Lawrence.
Lawrence claims he put a roof on the home, gutted the inside and wired it for new electricity.
He claims the contract was between him and the woman’s nephew. According to AREIS, the elderly woman owns the home.
Lawrence insists he’s innocent. In the meantime, the alleged victim said she wants the home torn down.
