Gobert's DPOYs are fraudulent when he gets exposed every postseason and in every elite big matchup. Other than that, this post is pretty on point.
So here's my thing about defense. It is so important and so valued because it's fukking hard. Gobert gets "exposed" in the playoffs because he's facing elite teams with elite talent. AD "exposed" him last night because he's a top 10 player in the league. Top 5 when he's locked in. Just because you can't stop AD doesn't change the fact that you're a top defensive player. Nobody can stop a player that good. No big can stay on the floor with Luka running pick and rolls. The same can be said about OG and Mikal. They got torched by arguably the best wing in the league, someone who is on a mission to prove everyone wrong about ALL the disrespect he got over the summer break. Money aside, who are you taking right now that can do a better job?

We should have kept the starters in last night. How we were still able to be so efficient (thanks Duece) is a testament to our talent. But we gotta fix this asap.

It’s going to take about 20-30 games. By that point hopefully Mitch and Precious are back and we have a clearer idea of what this team is AND Thibs has had a chance to sneak some practices in with them when they are on the road.

Mitch not coming back until February (50 plus games).

The more I think about it the more I feel like Josh is the issue. Our goal is to try and recreate the magic of last January when we traded for OG and instantly improved the offense. There’s no reason OG shouldn’t be able to stay in that role of corner three/dunker spot. Park KAT at the pinch post and run the offense through him like we did Randle. If you’re not going to use Hart as the center at the top of the key for dribble handling offs, then put him on the bench. Mikal needs to focus on all the things Donte did for us, spacing and secondary perimeter ball handler.

I'm not taking last night's game too seriously. Knicks implementing 2 key cogs into their rotation and they happen to play the defending champs with 2 of its best players playing with a chip after the disrespectful summer they had. Boston just picking up where they left off last season.

It's not that he faces "elite" teams, it's that the better teams can run 5-out, or have a big that can rim-run or shoot from the perimeter, that takes him out of the paint where he has most of his impact. You saw it against Houston and the Clippers all them years

I wasn't even aware that AD was frying him last night too lol. And somehow the best option for Minnesota against Denver the last two years was KAT guarding Jokic and not the 4X DPOY.

You can't be the best defender in the league to me when your teammate does a better job on someone that plays the same position as you. I'm sorry.

And who would I take? Wemby, Bam, maybe Chet. Those guys are better at moving their feet on the perimeter.

shyt, who you rather have guarding Embiid or Jokic, a healthy Mitch or Gobert? Go ahead and lie :stopitslime:

Mitch or Kat could guard Embıtch. We outmatch Philly by far. Boston and Milwaukee is our weakness on the east if healthy... maybe not Milwaukee in 2nd thought.

I feel like the KAT thing was more so that he forced Jokic to do things on offense when Gobert couldn’t. Not saying KAT didn’t do a good job defensively, but it’s easier to wear a guy out defensively when they have to work on both sides of the court.

And my “who would you rather have” scenario was about OG not Gobert. I’m taking Mitch over Gobert healthy for all the reasons you named about movement. But the fact remains, all those guys didn’t put out the defensive outputs the Gobert did 4 times over a season. nikkas acting like they gave him the award cause he’s some likable guy is crazy. AD wants the award so bad, put a fukking season together where you’re not disappearing for weeks at a time or on the sideline in street clothes. I can’t believe people got me defending that French fukk cause i hate him as much as everyone else but shyt is ridiculous.
