To get hired company wants me to write 5 things they could do better...

from a web/business POV. Just from what I can gather about them online. Fairly small internet marketing company in Wilmington, NC.

Anyone ever have to do this for an employer? Obviously ass the recommendations should be positive. I only have to do a few paragraphs and they've liked everything else about me in the interviews and the portfolio I submitted. This is the final thing I have to do. I feel like I;d really have to fukk it up to not get the job.

Exactly! I agree. He did say I understand that you don't know much about the company. More than anything I think he just wants to see if how much I can find out about them.

Or he wants free advice and he's gonna tell me to beat it lol.

Well first off the fact that you don't know shyt about the company tells me they need to maybe step up their marketing game.

Questions like this are more designed more designed to see how you react, if you are creative, if you can write vs your ability to change their company with a cursory 5 point improvement plan.

never had to do this, but you could compare them to their competitors for a better analysis

or compare them against a global company too

I have done something similar in preparing for my post MBA interviews. You should start with a SWOT analysis of the company or similar companies that you can find public information for. Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. Do a write up on how they can take advantage of the opportunities in the market while shoring up their weaknesses or responding to threats. I can't recall the website, but there are websites outhere that profile industries and companies that you can use. try Yahoo Finance as a start.

Also, you can pull up information using the annual reports of similar publicly traded companies. The annual reports will have info on the strategies that these companies are using.
