In the Summer of 1999, Buff Bagwell and Ernest ‘The Cat’ Miller were involved in a scripted feud. That feud would soon boil over into real life. It started when Buff did a promo on WCW Monday Nitro in full blackface mocking Ernest ‘The Cat’ Miller. Miller found the promo to be racist and confronted Bagwell about it. The two would exchange heated words but were separated before anything else came of it.
Fast forward to the Road Rage ’99 pay per view and Miller and Bagwell are scheduled for a one on one match. Originally, Miller was booked to win, but Buff allegedly threw a fit and complained to the head booker Kevin Nash. The result of the match would be changed in Buff’s favor and that led to more heated words between Miller and Bagwell. This time, however, Miller open hand slapped Bagwell across his face and threw a couple of punches that dropped Buff to the ground.
The two wrestlers were then separated and Buff allegedly apologized to Miller after things had calmed down. Buff still went on to win their Road Rage match, but years later Miller insisted there are no more hard feelings between the two.
