:manny: i think it's still premature but he's a solid vote in for 2014. So far he's only been talk, good talk mind you, but talk none the less. When he actually starts affecting change in the church at the street level is when he'd really be deserving of this title.

ill be sold when he makes initiatives to start bringing the filthy pedos in the church to justice instead of offering them safe haven

yeah that'd be awesome too. I guess what i'm trying to say is there's a lot of potential in what he's SAID and IF (big if) he stays true to what he's spoken he'll be a game changer (barring getting merked).

i think they fact he's even saying the things he's saying, and behaving how he is behaving, is extraordinary in itself considering the high profile position he holds.

and to make change at the street level will take time, because remember besides him the church is still filled with individuals of less than ideal character.

i agree wholeheartedly.

and i think the comparison with obama is a good one. both obama and the pope are the leaders of organizations that traditionally have been very oppressive, corrupt, etc., in their operations. so a culture shift in these kinds of contexts can be slow to come by.

but i think the fact the leaders of these respective entities is at least standing in front of the people and speaking the truth (although in somewhat of a euphemistic and/or vague manner) is a big step in the right direction.

because remember, they dont have to say shyt really. they dont have to speak on anything resembling the truth.

youre right though, let's see how all this plays out in terms of action.
