Obviously we all hate Carole, with that basic white woman ass name... I think she was a prostitute, and I think she was happy when her husband died. I even think she stole and replaced the will. But to plays Devils advocate, the Cartel could have killed Don. 
All the shyt he talked about pulling off a "final deal". Flying below plane radars, and leaving his plane near the airport (yes, I know Carole could have planted it
)
His lawyer completely discards that theory, because he doesnt want people to know Don was involved with dealing drugs. We all assumed Don was flying to Costa Rica, but it could have been a stopover island where he was supposed to meet his contact.
The timeline that best correlates with his disappearance seems related to his business dealings.
Then again, Carol did act real suspicious after he died
