It's been years since writer and director Park Hoon-jung put out a film( wrote and directed) that was worth a watch since "New World". Though "New World" was overhyped, the writing in the film was really good, the drama was boring and extremely drawn out. This film is much different. Though this film brings alot of character development to Choi Min-Sik( Shiri, Oldboy, I Saw the Devil) and his son, it brought a realistic view on the era of Japanese controlled Korea in the 1920's. The film drags alittle here and there in places of the film between some of the characters but brings them no closer to understanding their purpose in this movie, the film quickly takes up speed in the 2nd half with a onslaught of extreme violence and mayhem.

The CGI on the Tiger has been the best feature in the film. It has countered the Tiger in "Life of Pi" but has a more vicious and large role. The action is lengthy which is great because the dragging areas and weak points are placed by the waist side. If you like the Hunter-Prey films like Ghost and The Darkness, The Edge, The Grey then you will enjoy this one.
