Keith Thurman: Amir Khan Don't Belong at Welterweight

WBA interim-welterweight Keith Thurman (23-0, 21KOs) was very tempted to confront Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs) last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, when the two of them were present for the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana rematch.

Thurman will return in November and Khan is scheduled for December. Thurman would sign to fight Khan tomorrow if he could, but the British fighter has other plans - like pursuing a date with Mayweather.

"I already said that he don't belong in the welterweight division. That was a clear statement of mine. But when he first got out there [at the MGM] he was very polite to me, I didn't want to be disrespectful. I was keeping it nice. I don't think that we're going to fight each other soon. I would sign the contract. I'm going to be fighting in November. He told me that he's going to be fighting in December so we're still on different paths," Thurman said.

Thurman putting on the heel hat once more?


Floyd needs to come out and tell Khan that in order to fight him, he should beat Thurman for the WBA Interim Championship that Thurman now holds which makes Thurman, currently, Floyd's mandatory.

Neither Thurman OR Khan hold a top notch victory at 147, so the winner should get Floyd. Being that the person would be Floyd's mandatory defense anyways, I think it's a smart decision

Thurman needs to SHUT HIS TRAP and makes sure that SHOULDER heals properly!!

I love his fighting style and I think he is great for the future of boxing ...but

He pissed me the fukk off ...cause he had to cancel being on the Maidana/Mayweather card cause of his shoulder injury

stop talking shyt about other fighters ...till you fight again!!

cause even if he DIDN'T HURT THE SHOULDER...most boxing analysts say he still wouldn't have gotten a shot at Mayweather anyway regardless of the belt he holds cause he simply hasn't been in a market of fighting big names...

he got a BIG MOUTH..BIG HEART ...but you get's no BIG SHOT unless you fight BIG FIGHTS...

And it's something that HE NEEDS TO QUESTION...cause GODFATHER AL HAYMON which is his advisor has the power to put him in BIGGER FIGHTS...but that hasn't taking place yet.....

I personally would like him to fight DANNY GARCIA I think that's a worthy matchup before a KHAN /THURMAN fight
