Amazing song. I'll have to share my little personal Shanice story one day. Ironically, I shared it with my wife last week. LOL

In the early 90s, my brother produced hip-hop music, and I used to rhyme over his tracks. I took my little demo when I would level town to play ball. This is when I was playing Minor League baseball in the Angels system. There was this Asian kid from Malibu on our team. It was 93. He was listening to this one track where I was doing some adlibs at the end of the track, and I was talking about how fine Shanice was. He heard it and said he knew her because she came to parties he had been to before. They were in the same circles. He said, "You want me to tell her about you." I didn't even give it any serious thought, so I was like, "Yeah, see what's up". A few weeks passed, and he came up to me and told me that he heard back from her. I said, well, what did you tell her. what did she say?". He said that he told her that I talked about her on a song and I wanted to know what was up and that I wanted to meet her. He said her reply was, "Tell him I'll see him in Anaheim," meaning I'll see him when he makes it to the big leagues. It's a cute little diss. I ain't made. LMAO.

Who produced this?
What genre would this track be considered?

Erick Kirkland and Michael Angelo Saulsberry (two members of 90's R&B Portrait) and Maurice Thompson

according to Michael Angelo Saulsberry, he calls it "R&B Hip-Hop with a jazz overtone."

here's a link to the article where he says just that and talks about the song:

Been crushing on Shanice since way back she would have blown up in the 80s if her being Janet Jackson's mini-me on the same label didn't set her back the talent was there even at 14:wow:
