i have a personal theory that a component of gay and lesbian sexuality has nothing to do with male/male or female/female attraction but instead simply to an attraction to what is forbidden or taboo. what i mean is that a big aspect of what makes people gay or lesbian might not really be simple gender sexualization but a sexualization of that which is considered wrong or incorrect by society. generally when things are out of reach (in this case by being labeled forbidden and taboo) it has a tendency to create extra dopamine in the brain. this happens to gamblers who will create dopamine surges every time they encounter a reward that is just slightly out of reach to them, causing them to obsessively pursue their gambling habits more and more (slot machines, cards, etc)
dopamine is created simply whenever there is any kind of challenge that requires action on the part of the person to overcome it. when someone tries to become good at a sport, or to solve a puzzle, what is happening intrinsically is that there is a dopamine surge being sent out by the brain to make sure they can overcome the challenge and get what they want. therefore, i argue that wherever something is withheld, there is a strong chance that dopamine will start to surge in the brain to ensure that the person can have it. i believe that by making homosexuality taboo in society, it actually accelerates homosexual behavior. this process involves extra dopamine being sent out by the brain at the thought of this kind of sexuality because this kind of sexuality is more excessively withheld or forbid by society to them. i speculate that they actually feed off and crave the forbidden aspect of that kind of sexuality. therefore, i wondered what would start to happen to gays and lesbians when we took that forbidden and taboo element away from them.
The Gay Divorcees - Charles C. W. Cooke - National Review Online
In Norway, male same-sex marriages are 50 percent more likely to end in divorce than heterosexual marriages, and female same-sex marriages are an astonishing 167 percent more likely to be dissolved.
really interesting data
my interpretation of this data is this: lesbians and gays lose the forbidden aspect when they become married which acts to validate the sanctity or righteousness of their relationships: effectively killing all the passion they used to recieve from it when it was considered taboo instead
theres a really simple way to proof this theory: legalize gay and lesbian marriages and let the truth come out once and for all.
