As a brown man i have always been a little skeptical of ISKCON and the Hare Krishna stuff but when it came to the man himself and public speech he could deliver some gems, he was a charismatic figure. I think some of yall will be  at some of the shyt he could be given to say. I certainly am

For example this type thing would enrage most of the black nationalists on this site :manny:

This looks like a Nazi interpretation of what he was saying.

I think he was saying Europe got its civilization from India, not the other way around, and that the caste system is based more on works and mindset in this age rather than birth. Even in the Vedas "Aryan" was more of an adjective than a noun. This is the dude who runs ISKCON in MA I believe, he grew up in India and was initiated into Vaishnava priesthood, which is a huge deal:

anyway I like the monotheism that Vaishnavism promotes as opposed to mainstream hinduism, but all that singing and dancing  :whoa:

It is, to an extent. Let's not forget that there were quite a few indians who were alright with this characterization, subhas chandra bose etc... But i suppose you can't fault them in a way, they were looking for a way out against the british and needed some source of ethnic pride :manny:

as for the singing and dancing.....:russ: I don't have a problem with it. I love that a lot of hindu worship is active, involving, and life affirming. Why should worship be 100% grim and serious. If you are thanking god for existence, why not celebrate it with joy and wonder? I can't really fukk with the Hare Krishna's though. Too many yoga selling new age cornballs in the movement for my taste. It is nice that Hinduism has found vehicles to move outside of India, but not like this

I was raised on the Smarta stuff primarily.... I think hinduism is by nature largely open to interpretation as far as concept of God. The hindus who i have met in my life who approach it from a more intellectual/philosophical perspective generally tend to take the position that god manifests himself in different aspects as deities, and i overall agree with and like that approach most.

it's like some gospel music man, I just think they overdo it and it ends up coming off as forced. IMO you should be humble when addressing God.

Truly the words of a muslim... :ehh:

I don't have a problem with that or Gospel tbh. Just like with blacks, nach gana is embedded in the Indian spirit...... You can't stop us from singing or dancing even in serious times. I see where you're coming from though :manny:
