Those who have kids born after 2001, do you make your kids play outside like we did?

When walking around my neighborhood daily, I just see all these mindless drones completely immersed in this modern gadget world with their cellphones, ipods etc and it just shocks me how many are so addicted to these electronics. :krs:

People not paying attention, completely unaware of what's going on in their environment including kids and I just shake my head all the time. A lot of kanye running into a lamp post situations, it's unreal.

You hardly see the youngsters play outside anymore. I remember growing up in the 80s, doing my chores and playing outside with my brothers and sisters and all our friends.

I mean riding bikes, playing hide and seek, having all kinds of adventures. The 80s was the best decade for toys so you know we had that shyt popping. I mean remote control cars, planes, helicopters, trains, walkie talkies, view master, action figures etc

I remember always looking forward to watching Saturday/Sunday morning cartoons on the basic network channels and it was great. We don't even have that anymore not even the teen shows like Saved by the Bell, Hang Time etc since 2002.

I just feel bad for the kids born after 2000, what are they watching? Are they just viewing cable, Youtube, Hulu, Netflix and DVD's or something else?

Or is everyone just on the video game craze cos I don't see kids having a good time like I did with a combination of both enjoyable and fulfilling outdoor and indoor activities.

DAMN, I feel like crying man, things have really changed. :why:

nope. my oldest was born in 2003. too many idiots outside for me to let her roam with those fools around where we stay now. planning on moving later this year, so hopefully she can go out and play with reckless abandon once that happens.

These new parents are not raising their boys to become real men...Waaay too many soft azz kids. If you're a father, spend a lot of time with your son, take them to a ball game, watch ncaa football games with him, bike ride, camping trips..all of that. Get them away from female influences, please.

I do but I'll admit I had to have a wake up call. My lil is addicted to her electronics(Nexus 7, PS3, laptop) and she was 6 years old and couldn't ride a bike without training wheels. That was my wake up call. Now I make sure she gets ample outside time.

yeah, my next house will either be within walking distance of my parents or in a good area with no fukks given. I'm tired of them being in my face. yeah, I got a big back yard for them to play in thats fenced in, but that's overrated. I need them outside making friends like i did as a young buck.

right now, they do most of their playing outside at my mother in law's crib. coincidently one of my daughter's best friends from her school's grandma lives across the street from my in laws so it works out great for the time being.
