Thor: Ragnarok scribe Christopher Yost has been tapped to pen the screenplay for Sony's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe reboot.
As source Variety notes, Terry Rossio and Jeff Wadlow wrote previous drafts for the studio. The project, based on the popular toy line and He-Man animated series, is being produced by Escape Artists' Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch.
Set in the world of Eternia, the story followed Prince Adam, a warrior with the power to transform into the valiant He-Man. His nemesis Skeletor sought to conquer a mysterious fortress known as Castle Grayskull in order to learn its secrets. The cartoon ran from 1983 to '85 and was so well-received that it spawned a live-action movie starring Dolph Lundgren in '87.
After getting his start writing for toons like X-Men: Evolution and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Yost moved on to live-action, contributing to Marvel's Thor: The Dark World and, later, the upcoming Ragnarok.
