Bless you Marvel.
As usual with blockbuster films of this size, however, there’s still one more production stop that the film has to make before it finishes post-production. And today, the Atlanta Journal-Consitution is reporting that Thor: Ragnarok is currently preparing for a couple days of reshoots in Atlanta, GA this month, which will take place on July 12 and 19. Additionally, the reshoots are looking for “Caucasian-looking men” any over 18 and who are between 5’10” and 6’1″ to play extras in the scenes. The casting call also states that all applicants must “be very physically fit, with muscular and defined arms.”
It’s impossible to know what scenes that Waititi and co. might be adding or tweaking for the finished film, or if these two days are really the only amount of time needed for Ragnarok. If so, then the film might just one of Marvel’s more successful projects to date, purely from a production standpoint alone, with the small amount of reshoots meaning that Waititi and his crew are able to use everything that was already shot last year, for a majority of the actual final cut of Thor: Ragnarok. That’s an impressive feat for any filmmaker to achieve, especially for a film of this size and scale.
