Love & Basketball is a 2000 American romantic drama film starring Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps. The film tells the story of Quincy McCall (Epps) and Monica Wright (Lathan), two next-door neighbors in Los Angeles, California who are pursuing their basketball careers before eventually falling for each other. The film was produced by 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, and marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Gina Prince-Bythewood.

1) one of the few movies I know word for word

2) goddamn I’m old :sadcam:

3) I was lightweight disappointed to learn “woman’s work” was a remake. I thought maxwell was dropping some new heat on me :(

Yeah, I didn't know that song was a remake till years later.

Just listened to the Rewatchables podcast where they talked about the movie.

Sanaa Lathan had never picked up a basketball before this movie and had to go through an intense training session for the scenes. They said she hadn't picked up once since the movie wrapped.

Classic, and definitely top ten for me personally.

The story, the SOUNDTRACK, the basketball references, the women (Sanaa Lathan, Regina Hall, Gabrielle Union, and Tyra Banks) :ohlawd:

Also, Shea Butter Twitter hates this movie, which makes me appreciate it even more.
