in regards to dudes brother, the media is to quick to get the story out that dude who was innocent was basically labeled as the killer for a good while had his picture splashed all across the web, liked mass effect on his facebook page that people started saying mass effect caused that, only to find out the brother had no part in it lives in a totally diff city, haven't seen his parents in two years and is a law abiding citizen.

its crazy that soemone with the same name as you can commit a crime and the first thing the media will do is fb or twitter or name and if your teh first result and i that city they will run with it and just correct it later.

freedom of speech has probably influenced libel and defamation laws so that it is hard to be punished for speech. you have to really cross some lines to get in trouble. the laws seem to focus on malicious intent instead of mistakes, though recklessness is probably a gray area. might have to ask a lawyer on that one.

you gotta remember that adam (dude shooting) had his brother's ID on him. so I can see where the confusion came from. they did correct themselves as soon as possible tho

I feel so sorry for the guy. Got blamed for a mass murder and then found out it was his brother who took out his parents as well. You will never have a worse day in your life than that dude has. I'm sure he's still getting harassed by a$$holes over social media.
