Even in his book, he admits to bullying other wrestlers, breaking Mick Foley's jaw because he wanted to, drugging his wife with GHB so he could rape her anally (which he also taught to Davey Boy Smith), and of course chased his wife out of his home with a shotgun and that's why she ran to Bret Hart's house. (Bret's wife is Dynamite's wife's older sister).
One of the best in-ring workers of all time ... and also one of the meanest men to ever step foot in a wrestling ring. Kid's reputation as a nasty piece of work is legendary, and if anything it creates a nostalgic fondness for him, as if his unforgiving toughness was "the good old days." They were far from the good days for his victims. Mick Foley in his first book talks about the way Kid used to bully new talent in the 80's, going stiff on them in the ring with real punches and kicks. This was so bad that Mick couldn't eat solids for a week after Kid smashed him with a clothesline which ripped a ligament in his jaw. Backstage he was equally horrible. Stories of Kid being mean are as prevalent as stories of Owen Hart being a notorious joker. Except Kid's brand of 'ribbing' wasn't light hearted, instead it involved tricks such as cutting up his colleagues clothes and putting laxatives in drinks. He reportedly got in many nasty bar fights, in which he fought with uncaring brutality. One Kid story even claims that he tied his niece down to a bed and broke her kneecaps as part of an insurance scam job. Another story says that as a prank he woke his wife up during the night with a gun in her mouth, telling her "next time it's loaded." Another incident with Kid and his wife was confirmed in 2013, Michelle Billington revealing that when she threw her husband out "He put me in holds that popped out my jaw, and stretched me in agony. He told his brother to go get his gun, because he was going to shoot me."
There are many well-documented horror stories involving Tom "Dynamite Kid" Billington, but this is one that hasn't gotten as much attention as the others. Decades ago, a young, pre-WWE Dynamite took part in an insurance fraud scheme, wherein his Stampede Wrestling manager, fellow Brit John "JR" Foley, allegedly asked him to break his daughter's legs so he could collect $20,000 in insurance money. He agreed, apparently without hesitation, and rendered Michelle Foley, then recovering from a car accident, unable to walk properly for the rest of her life.
Although such an incident could add to Dynamite Kid's long resume of cruelty outside the ring, it's worth noting that the above claims were made by Diana Hart-Smith (British Bulldog's wife) in her book Under the Mat, which has been ripped to shreds by critics and fans for its plethora of inaccurate and/or libelous claims.
