Brunson is such a professional.

Of any player I've rooted for that has had a slump, I've never been more confident that a player would be able to weather the storm, not allow it to affect his confidence and power through it than BRUNSON

Although I've had the intrusive thoughts about wishing we'd have ran it back one more year, and I do not enjoy watching the team as much as I did last year, I am very happy with this team and believe we have as much potential as ever.

Lets fukking go.

Well said and it's why I don't like when he gets bad mouthed. Breh goes out there and gives it his all and never complains nor gives off bad energy.

This team has two or three LEAPS left if things fall right. They're missing interior rim protection and muscle that should show up when a couple of bigs get healthy. Mikal hasn't found his range yet. Brunson is still out of rhythm. The defense is a work in progress. We still see a top-5 offense by most measures and the 7th best point differential in the league.

This squad could get scary if a few of the expected things happen. Mikal always finds his jumper. Brunson is better than we've seen. Thibs' defenses always gradually get better.
Mikals up and down offensive performances don't worry me this team has plenty of firepower...His defense on the other hand is concerning.....he's been a far cry from the All NBA defender most thought we were getting. Truthfully, he's been mediocre at best on that end. What gives :patrice:

The interior rim defender and rebounder can make or break this team against top tiers. We seen it last year in IHart and Mitch. We have to have another rebounder with size while Kat spreads the floor and hits beyond the perimeter.

He can't play 3, D and interior defender. We seen this with Minny. It doesn't discount him as a player but Rudy covered that area. We need Precious, Huk or Mitch to cover that. Good coached teams are exposing that and wearing him out ⏸️.

My other issue is that Brunson is under a cold spell. I'm confident that he will drastically improve offensively but also he's had some selfish plays trying to get his rhythm back at the expense of giving up easy opportunities with his teammates. Other teams see that and have shut him down. He also has to protect the ball and not let these nıggas strip him. It's far and few but I've seen him get stripped on close games which resulted in widening the gap in the loss and requiring the team to try to comeback too little, too late.

OG plays off of what is given to him. If you dish him the ball on an open, he's a bucket. He's getting more touches this season.

Mikal has and inside game (inside perimeter, spin and shoot) but his outside perimeter shooting has fell way the fụck off. I hope that he steps it up on those open buckets from beyond the arc. What would drastically and statistically help improve those opportunities is an interior rebounder.

Hart is a dog. Nothing else to say. Duece is a dog off the bench. Nothing else to say. I'm lowkey glad Cam came back because load management ⏸️ is real.

Going back to the initial statement, we're losing against teams that are out rebounding us. It's clear as day. This takes away second chance opportunities and kills the offense when Kat steps away from the interior or gets boxed out by 2 bigs.

Ultimately, Duece and Hart off the bench would give us a 🐕 that would wear any team out. We need another big in that starting unit to capitalize on these deficiencies and I hope that this is something that Thibs is seeing.

I agree that Mikal's defense has been mostly mid. But I think a good chunk of his mistakes come down to new teammates and system. Thibs' wings have to operate on a string, but that hasn't really worked out yet. We see two players coming over to help when one guy should helping while the other rotates to cover for him. That sorta stuff SHOULD sort itself out. Communication gets better over a season, and players learn each others' habits.

Then I also think every new defender in this system has to learn that it's never okay to go under a screen. You HAVE to trust your big to get the spacing right in drop or hedge coverage. Mikal's gotten burned going under a bit too much for my liking, but I think that can improve.

He fụcks up on switches for sure. He also doesn't take a step back to read the offense out. It's almost like he's rushing to defend rather than calculate and be confident in where his opponent is moving. I posted a video with Stef saying it.

OG calculates the defense and reads where his mans is moving ⏸️. Some players just have that type of IQ to anticipate like on some Jaylen Brown, Jokic type shıt. They can't really be psyched out cause they thinking 2 or 3 steps ahead. If a nıgga is left, push him right and so on. Speaking of which, a lot of players are pushing Brunson right to expose his offense.

If you hit ya shot, you got it but they don't wanna be a highlight on ESPN or TNT with Chuck and Shaq roasting them.

They DEFINITELY need a physical big to help KAT and add some muscle when teams are trying to press us...the big physical guys tend to draw extra fouls in those kinds of games too.

I think the rotation should be situational though. Against the Cavs of the world, you give extra minutes to the two-big lineups. Against some of the more pace and space crews, you lean heavier on the small ball rotation.

Brunson getting stripped randomly and also throwing some really lazy entry passes is concerning. It feels like he's overthinking in certain spots. I'll give him a pass on the selfish stuff for now, because I think it mostly happens when he's expecting a whistle off contact. The past couple of games, he's stopped waiting for whistles and passed more quickly. I hope that sticks.

Mikal's perimeter shooting is frustrating. He's been terrible above the break, though I saw corner splits that are at least promising. It feels like his midrange should eventually stretch. More offensive boards would definitely help, and I'd love to see an inbounds design or two that aims to generate an open look for Mikal or OG from deep. We've had a lot of good inbounds going to the basket, so when scouts catch up, I'd love the counter to generate free looks for Mikal.

Precious/Mitch should have a REAL impact on this team. Granted, Sims only plays 10 minutes a night but replace him with either guy and that's a big upgrade.

Watching him nightly you'll realize his defense is overrated. He will have moments but na it's not as advertised.
