I remember back from 98-01...them promos would have me like 
I remember back in those days...ALL their PPV's were important..EVERY match on the card MEANT something...not no filler matches like we have now...damn near EVERY PPV was on that epic shyt....

Can we take a quick minute to truly appreciate the simple complexity that was Mankind/Cactus Jack. You've got to think for a second and go "Yo...they had us SO dialed into the WWF product that it was perfectly believable that Foley taking his mask made him an entirely different person (Cactus Jack). That's ABSURD, yet it made perfect sense and we bought into that shyt.

Dude changed characters ENTIRELY by taking his mask off, having a Cactus Jack t-shirt underneath his dress shirt, and changing his catchphrase. That's fukking amazing. I don't know if anyone could do that today in the big companies and get away with it like Foley did.
I wonder which character drew more or sold more merchandise. Throw that Dude Love shyt in the bushes but wow...

In his book Foley basically said the entire legitimacy of that angle rested on Triple H's reaction to Mankind taking off his mask and switching. Dude sold it like he'd seen a ghost
