This just popped up in my algorithm, oldhead from Cali making 80s-sounding electro rap in 2024

None of these Jay Worthy/Dam Funk sound like this Uncle Jamm's Army type shyt dude dropped

It all comes from the same Roger and Zapp 80s synth funk just different tempos

I see what you're saying though, some straight Egyptian Lover shyt.

There is still an underground scene for that and I know Dam got some tapes of that specific style, but his catelog is up there with Spittas.

You may be undermining the uniqueness of what you're hearing

If I want to hear music like this I’d go back and listen to the old stuff which is way better. I’m :flabbynsick: but I’m going to post :flabbynsick: because this sound is more :flabbynsick: than I am :russ:

Funny how this sound is so closely associated with L.A but it's origins are really in the midwest (Ohio mostly)

Funk music is an Ohio artform, Dayton to be exact

But all the record labels and fishscale was in LA.
