the party might be on the decline, but right wing ideology isn't. even if the far right of the party continues to get bigger and "conservatives" leave the party the end result would be making the democratic party more conservative.

He believes the ideology is too. It's not a movement and is only try to keep hold of power.
Edit: the democratic party is already more conservative. Clinton and Obama ensured that. It's a good discussion on these shifts and history.
