This is just a scenario, I am not thinking of actually doing it...

but what would stop Person A from getting a job at a large business, like Chik Fil-A, and "unintentionally" spilling a lot of coffee on their friend, Person B, so Person B can sue Chik Fil-A and win big?

Person A will be charged with what? reckless behavior or something? Let's even say Person A serves 5 years in prison. But Person B received 2 million in the case, and they intended to split it. So when Person A gets out of jail, he gets 1 mill and gets the fukk outta dodge and lives comfortably for the rest of his life in Canada or something.

"Liebeck v. McDonald's Restaurants,[1] also known as the McDonald's coffee case and the hot coffee lawsuit, is a 1994 product liability lawsuit that became a flashpoint in the debate in the U.S. over tort reform after a jury awarded $160,000[2] to cover medical expenses and compensatory damages (in addition to $2.7 million in punitive damages) to Stella Liebeck who suffered third degree burns in her pelvic region when she spilled hot coffee purchased from fast food restaurant McDonald's."

It was the woman's fault for spilling the coffee on herself yet she still won.

Soooooooo...how would this not work? :ohhh:

I know this is fraud but how would they be able to prove it? :ohhh: Because Chik Fil A employees are known to bring you your food after you order it...so an accidental spilling may very much occur :ohhh:

Speak on it.

You know, it's funny how people use the McDonald's coffee case as a way to illustrate the problem of frivolous lawsuits. But she did get some serious burns from that coffee. No coffee should be that hot!
If I am not mistaken, I remember hearing that the coffee was that hot in order to make people drink it slowly making it seem as though McDonald's coffee lasts longer.

Nowadays, I think most places have a safeguard to prevent lawsuits like this occurring for their coffee.

Anyways, you never know with punitive damages. Courts have been struggling with determining the correct or appropriate amount to award in damages. You could walk away with little to nothing.

1. You need a legit lawsuit. This already ruled on and all fast food chains have taken steps to limit their liability.

2. Defence will go all out into investigating the plaintiff. They will find out you are their friend, subpoena you and use that against them at trial.

3. You think your friend won't spend the 2 mill while you're in jail?

Start thinking of real business ideas or just get a real job breh, this sh1t clearly ain't for you.
