If you take in as a comedy, I agree it's not a great movie, but if you take as kind of an off-beat character study then I think it's a pretty good movie.

Apatow needs to stop directing. I don't even mind the fact he casts his family, but he just doesn't know when to stop. Keep producing. Keep writing, but stop directing. Even Knocked Up was overly long.

Saw this 2 years ago in theaters, around Christmas…not funny, and very out of touch with reality…another movie with everyone driving lat model luxury cars, every kid has an iPad, and vacations at the Ritz Carlton Laguna. I just remember waiting for at least a handful of laughs, or sincerity, and it managed to tow the line of being painfully unfunny, insincere, and unmoving.
