They did not top the first one, or even come close to it. I remember being all excited for the second one. After I saw it I was:

Agreed, the first one had a perfect flow to it. The second was neither here nor there and the third one was horrible.

They really tried to keep the momentum going but man that third one was horrible. They tried to to make it more interesting by adding a 3d element to it but it was already clear by the second one that this movie would've been best at just a one time thing.
