You need to factor in the religious aspect of this. Many of the Shia fighters Assad has at his disposal now aren't even supporters of him. Its purely sectarian and there's never a shortage of willing young men willing to martyr themselves for the cause.

Majority of Lebanese sunnis aren't salafi and usually well off financially though and hate the mentality so I doubt they will start fighting.
