Movies/music/ media in general is EXTREMELY POWERFUL and can have a tremendous affect on the psyche and also how you feel about yourself and each other.

Those of you saying that its "just a movie" are 100% wrong.

If black people had more positive images of ourselves over the last decades then this movie wouldn't be such a big deal,

The hype around this movie is a RESULT of the stereotypical images of blacks that people worldwide are used to.

No race of people are use to seeing blacks in this light.

This will be a "different" movie-going experience for everyone regardless of race. It will be like watching aliens on the big screen. Just something we're not used to seeing.

Real talk, I wasn't even hyped for the movie much but social media would have you think you'd be ostracized from the black community if you don't see it.
It seems more like non-comic related sites are hyping this up just for attention than actual black comic nerds. Then again, the presale ticket numbers and the hype wave after Civil War was quite a show.
I care more about what happens after the hype dies down. Is black twitter just gonna move on and act like it never happened? Or is this going to translate into greater interest for black leads in action movies in general?
