As a people, we'll have to learn the difference between the two. Until then, we really have to be patient with one another and reflect.
It's only been a few decades since our ancestors' fought for our right to vote. Yes, there was a political element to it, but it was largely civic-- hence the Civil Rights Movement. It wasn't politics. It allowed the minimum requirement necessary to do politics.
So much blame is being placed on our Boomers and Elders, but our generations our struck with the same illogical fallacy. They voted Democrat on the notion that the Dems will look out for them. The younger gens are preaching withholding their vote until Dems do better. Both are reactive, and in case you hadn't noticed from all the Rainbow logos and Los Lakers, etc. Politics is proactive.
