Simmons had a spark when he first started on his boston sports blog/site, but now the mother fukker just makes pop culture referances every two lines. I fukking hate him.

He was a readable columnist when he was an insightful fan. The pop references went into hyperdrive, the assumption of expertise became the stuff of self-parody, the name-dropping was painful, and the amateur sociologist role he'd take on was unbearable. Started to seem clearly like simmons was more interested in celebrity than sports.
