I keep seeing comments saying these movies were all trash. Spider-Man and especially Spider-Man 2 were praised by everyone at the time. Spider-Man 3 had a mixed reaction with some saying it was complete trash and others saying that if they had just left the rushed Venom story arc out of it, it wouldn't have been too bad..

X-Men was 'ok'.. it wasn't great but it got the ball rolling for X2. X2 was at one time recognized as the best comic book film to date. X-Men: The Last Stand is obviously garbage but that's to be expected with a hack like Ratner at the helm.

For the most part there was more good than bad in these franchises.

I get it that most would like the rights to these characters to go back to Marvel and I do agree with that but first ask yourself this question. How many truly classic movies has Marvel Studios made? Avengers, Iron Man... what else? I think Captain America: Winter Solider will be the third classic, I have high hopes but right now their batting average isn't that much better than Fox or Sony. They too need to step up their game. Movies like Thor and Hulk or even the first Captain America have left the majority of viewers feeling that nothing is at stake and they are soulless ventures.

it's nothing but the 'latest is the greatest' mentality...in 10 years people, whatever movie people hold high now will be getting the same treatment...

They were trash then and they're trash now.

But a feel you, a lot of posters coming out the woodwork talking about they're weak.

I remember back on SOHH we used to get hell for bashing those early X-Flicks.

Oh so now upon further inspection :lupe:

FOH :camby:

Nolan Batman flicks? Classic. Avengers? Classic. Iron Man? Classic. Blade 1 and 2? Classic.

Everything else has been borderline or just decent.

You'll see, in a few years everyone on this board will point out how meh "Man of Steel" was too, despite everyone sucking it off now. The only difference is this is The Coli, not SOHH where nikkas can say shyt and hide their hands, safe with the knowledge that their posts will either be forgotten or the servers will crash....nah...THIS TIME we playing for keeps

I think in a few years avengers is gonna get fukking clowned especially for the nameless faceless enemies at the end and huge mistakes, and loose plot.

no doubt it will happen...that mentality is so rampant, people are starting to try to tear shyt down the sec after it gets released now, they don't even wait anymore...muthafukkas don't enjoy shyt anymore...

I watched it again not too long ago and yea it's not cohesively strong from start to finish but the parts that are fun are REALLY fun. Like yea there were parts that had you bored as fukk and yea it wasn't the strongest story but you can't say the movie didn't put a big fukkin smile on your face at least a few several times. And at the end of the day I think that's what most people took away from that movie in the long run. That it was just loads of fun.

Everything with the interactions between Stark and Cap is fantastic, Loki was as great as always and Ruffalo played the hell out of Banner. The action sequences were really fun too. The thing that weighs Avengers down a bit is what @Ed MOTHERfukkING G stated. The villains were a generic and forgettable alien race. This is the same problem that a lot of Marvel Studios films have. The villains are often times not a threat. Iron Man 3, for example, traded what could have been a solid villain in for something that was generic (i.e. bad tech guy in a suit) which we had already seen in the previous films.

x3 aside i can agree with this... i always tell people just enjoy the action & dont go to any of these movies expecting them to make sense cause they dont & theyre full of holes.... its just like im not really a fan of batman begins or man of steel but id never say they were terrible movies...

i honestly dont think any of them have made a classic but unlike other posters i dont think marvel has made an absolute trash movie either, they mightve been underwhelming or boring but whatever, the other studios have complete fukkups.... i just think marvel can make a movie that can actually follow a storyline correctly without changing characters for no reason & totally screwing up casting, their batting average is way higher in these departments & i truly dread seein them fukk up another of my favorite characters.. plus then i can see some crossovers that make sense without studio beef....

Marvel Studios has made 2 truly :blessed: Movies: Iron Man and The Avengers.
The rest of their movies have ranged from:ehh: to :beli: to

I am hoping this new Cap flick lives up the hype I am hearing and I have high hopes for Guardians of the Galaxy.

I'll fight anyone who says the first two Spiderman movies aren't good. fukk everything about #3, but 1 and 2 are near-perfect superhero movies imo.

TBH, the replay value for Avengers is shytty IMO.

I haven't gone back and watched it again since I saw it at a early screening 2 years ago

The only Marvel flick with any replay value is the first Iron Man.

and....this might surprise some people.... The Incredible Hulk

Everybody shyts on that movie, but it's my 2nd favorite Marvel film behind Iron Man.It to has better replay value than Avengers...at least to me:ld:

Avengers get's the higher ranking because of it's massive scale.Overall, I thought it was kinda campy & prettty bland. It was cool to see all those superheroes meet up in one flick, though.Brilliant move on Marvel's part. All the "phase 1" films leading up to the Avengers made that shyt seem like a major event. That's what I see that movie as.A decent movie wrapped inside a major event.People get caught up in the event of seeing all those superheroes come together for the first time, they overlook the fact that the movie was barely above average.Genius level hype bulding by Marvel
