The word "thug" in reference to black men

Do y'all feel comfortable using this term in reference to black men? In my view, it's a derogatory term. It's a term that I feel shouldn't be used by black folks toward black men because it perpetuates internalized racism. Why do we call black men thugs? What is a thug?

The modern day use of "Thug" is basically a byproduct of "white fear", in similarity with emasculating black men, by making it anti society to me masculine. So they align "Thug" with crime, which then they can tie into "Black"(Men).

If you are too masculine or big or "dress" a certain way, which makes white men or white people feel small, then they make you out to be a "Thug" aka "Scary"

Its a bait and switch tactic crackas use to push anti black sentiment. Retarded bougies and c00ns period in our race then rally behind their masters and use it the same way with the same sentiment, without understanding the root behind how these devils use language and terminology to attack us with............

i agree wholeheartedly with your post but the word "thug" itself has been made synonymous with the black male mainly because of hiphop culture. Yall aren't gonna want to admit or acknowledge it, but its true. People worldwide think of a black male first and foremost when they hear or see the word "thug". One of the hottest rappers out today goes by the name "Young Thug"

Honestly the only time i hear black men being called "thugs" is when whites use it or when rappers call themselves that in songs

ok, but still the word "thug" has been made synonymous with that of the black male mainly because of hiphop culture. Whether they were REALLY thugs or not isn't the point. This is why ive made plenty of threads about how hiphop has glorified and promoted mainly the WORSE stereotypes of the black image.
