Yeah its kinda weird role playing as a girl bro. But It's not a big deal. Ciri is going to be a lesbian in my playthrough.
Cyberpunk was better as a chick tbh. Was more interesting from a narrative and voice acting standpoint.

I'll pick a female character if the voice actor is better, like Jennifer hale In mass effect for example.

Sometimes the premise of a female lead in certain cases seems less...generic than some dude.

You must not be a very artistic or creative person, no worries though, most people are uncreative worker bees that don't respect mediums like this artistically
People always say the female VA is better than the male.
I think there is unconscious bias, because i see people say this even when the female VA is trash.
First example being midnight suns. The male VA gave an old salem accent as he supposed to be an old hero from the pilgrim era, and the female VA was there with a modern valley girl accent and people still said they liked her better.

With cyberpunk, male V sounded the most believable as a streetkid/canon marketed path. And his usage of the cyberpunk slang was far more natural. The fem V literally brought nothing to the role, but people like her because they like her. Although she is my preference as a corpo, male v sounds too street to be a high level corpo agent.

but I think people just have a natural inclination toward female va's because they seem to be on that team regardless of who did the better job.
If you don't believe me I would challenge you to list just two games where you think the female VA was worse than the male.
My first playthrough was with male V, as a nomad. Beat the game that way; funny enough my second playthrough was as female V as a street kid.
So if there were a psychological bias, I'd be more inclined to have a familiarity with male V's Voice over.

I simply feel female V felt more subtle and less like a caricature of a street kid hero generic. He was trying alittle harder it felt, and male V wasn't bad at all mind you, thats just how I would articulate the difference. That and I felt female V's tone held more flexibility in playing as different races, whereas male Shepard, and male V sound harshly caucasian exclusively IMO. (Or at the very least, def not black, I can least see female V as a mixed chick)

As far as your challenge, I mean how many other games have alot of voice acting where you can directly compare both genders? I didn't play Baldurs gate 3 or Dragon Age, so I couldn't tell you there. Otherwise I can't think of many others.

But I can think of amazing male voice talent that I'd never replace in a game. I.E. Geralt, Nathan Drake, Joel, Kratos, etc

I have zero reason to think why either V character is better. I don't get it. Maybe I need another playthrough. The voices of both sounded fine to me.:yeshrug:

Neither effected the gameplay. Neither had advatages or disadvantages. The story might've changed a bit, but that's all they did

You’re projecting a lot bro. Chill
In what way. Enlighten me.

If your brain says "I dude, so I play dude" in all cases, then you have no artistic nuance, and your creativity is probably low, as it indicates you can't really suspend disbelief that much. You actually need to project yourself into the character.

Like...these people probably wouldn't make very good actors lol

Her dynamic with Judy as chick added more to the game I think than my first playthrough. The text exchanges between them throughout was more engrossing, personal, etc than stuff with Panam

Also sometimes it's just more interesting to imagine a premise, and sometimes a chick is a more interesting lead for that premise than another dude. Imo.

I.E. fenale space captain might be alittle more fresh than a male space captain.

As in.. Role playing as a girl in a game like an MMO when you’re a man irl. Like I said, in this game it’s not a big deal. I have played and enjoyed many games with female protagonists. It’s kinda weird you’re projecting this much about another person after a brief statement. Relax.

Nah it's more interesting to analyze the psychology of someone who simply cannot play as someone outside their gender in a narrative driven game. It's thought exercise, dont dumb the conversation down by pulling the typical "relax bro gosh" card.

The conversation you're bringing is far less stimulating than what I said. So I'd rather maintain my comment

The irony is I literally never said that lol. I’m telling you to relax because you have no basis for what you’re saying. It’s projecting. I keep telling you, you’re being an idiot. If I actually did believe what you’re saying, then there would be something to engage in.

It’s like me calling you a fukking brain dead retard because you can’t see past one statement or the fact there’s nuance to one’s character. It’s projecting. Regardless, this is a boring discussion.

But you're getting upset, I'm just typing shyt.

Also wasn't I responding to someone saying "it's mad weird to pick a female character" a wayyy more simplistic assessment of character, there's no nuance in that statement. Projection implies, that I'm accusing someone of something I'm doing.

Now we gotta ask why my post bothered you more than that guy making a dumb comment. Hmm

trailer said it was rendered on an "Unannounced Nvdia GPU". I'm guessing the 5090

I get what you're saying. Ultimately wanting to play as a male character because you're a male is no more simple-minded or inartistic than wanting to play as a female because her VA sounds good. One person's reasons can sound intellectual in their own head but insecure or pretentious to someone else. I could care less about people's personal preference or their justification for it.

The real issue is when people use bullying-tactics to impose their own personal preference as inherently right while denigrating other's as flawed/problematic/inauthentic, as a means to restrict, monopolize, and control the art.

i.e. any mc that's not white male (or any female mc that don't got a BBL) is "pandering", then proceeding to review bomb, online harass, threaten, etc
