Don’t ask me how

Is he was actually supposed to drop the Universal title at Day 1 2022.

Vince had him booked to drop the title to Brock 1/1/22 which woulda been a few days before he surpassed Brock’s longest reign of the modern era. Vince wasn’t gone let Rome pass Brock’s Reign.

I remember the whole storyline. Sami won some match to become #1 contender for Day 1 on Raw then Brock forced him to use his title shot on Raw instead. Brock whooped Sami ass, brought him down to the ring and hit him with a F5 then served him up on a platter for Roman who pinned him seconds into the match.

That set up Roman vs Brock for Day 1.

Rome coincidentally caught Covid and couldn’t compete so Vince had to pivot then called an audible and threw Brock in the Big E fatal 4 way match instead and had him win since he was determined for Brock to leave Day 1 with a world championship one way or another. Big E wasn’t even originally booked to drop the title that night, Rome was :sas2:

We prolly woulda missed out on all this fukkery of the past 2+ years if things went as planned :dwillhuh:

I wonder how much of the Tribal Chief idea was Vinces. The other night I suddenly realized that it seemed more like a Paul Heyman idea.

Preface: loved Mania 40 and all it ended up being.
Great storytelling work.
Roman's done god's work since he showed back up without a chest protector.

That said: let's go over to the Butterfly Effect Monitor here in the studio; walk with me.

Now, if we check the ripples,
If Roman doesn't get sick,
Then Lesnar takes his title.
Meaning Big E doesn't get Lesnar'd.
Which keeps his card position intact.
If E was still positioned like he shoulda been, there is no New Day/Brawling Brutes feud.
There is no Ridge Holland spot
Thuslly, E is around the last 2 years.

In light of that?

fukk Cody's story :pacspit:
I wish Lesnar woulda F5ed that nikka Roman into the crust of the earth in 2022
I miss E :mjcry:

Like many things, it was honestly a perfect storm. Can't pay for nor script things like that.

Generational talent in any field like either MJ, The Rock, Stone Cold, Roman, etc. is a prerequisite. As is hitting all their marks.

However, it doesn't guarantee success. The circumstances and environment that all play a significant factor as well.

Something goes left instead of right and the spectacle never comes to be.

This was special.

Roman is a generational talent?

:skip:

I get it. Y’all enjoyed the Bloodline story but c’mon. Really?
I mean, dude was able to pull wrestling/WWE from a horrible era. Not many have done the same: Stone Cold, Hulk Hogan, Roman.

I mean you know how insane it is for someone to hold attention especially in this era for 3-4 years?

If someone else can do it, then let's see them. There are a lot of good names out there, but I can only talk about the actual feats and I think Roman's feats the last 3-4 years were incredible and stands with every other all-time great.

I feel like it was more about the storyline than Roman’s actual title run. Honestly the best parts of the Bloodline story was the Jimmy/Jey stuff(Sami, turning on each other etc…) Then Cody comes along elevates everything to another level. Roman was almost just a prop in this whole thing. Everything happening around him was more interesting than his matches. Yeah it was based around him being the HOTT but everyone that contributed to the story made it what it was. Also we all new Rock would eventually get involved and that kept you locked In because it was damn near inevitable.

Luck always plays a part in every big/successful wrestling angle and promotions always stumble upon them and go :ohhh: the key is taking advantage of when that :ohhh: moment happens. Luckily WWE was able to do it in a masterful way, specially for today's landscape.

:francis:I get it, I'm a Roman stan, but, ya'll kill me with this.

Now, Roman was just there while everything about about Sami and Usos????

Ya'll don't think he's the GOAT, he reign was too long, he matches got too predictable at the end...fine.

There's critique then there's being a contrarian.

The biggest factor in Roman's reign getting tired was it ballooned to a point where Wrestlemania was the only place to end it.

Cody wouldn't be as interesting if he came back 2022, won the RR early 2023 and won at WM 39.

The last year was about positiioning Roman to a level to put Cody over once he beat him. Look at the whole segment before Rock came out.

I've never seen that in wrestling, before.

Cody might have won a lot sooner if he didn't tear his pec
I was 100% certain he was gonna win MITB that year before he got hurt and they gave it to Theory :mjlol:
