The White House Believes Police Shootings Of Black Men Is Not A National Issue
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also said the federal government should not weigh in on the deaths of Alton Sterling, Stephon Clark, or Eric Garner.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday that President Trump considers the high-profile police shootings of black men to be "local matters" that federal officials should stay out of.

Asked for President Trump's response to the recent shooting of Stephon Clark in Sacramento, an unarmed black man killed by two officers in his grandmother’s backyard, Sanders said that, while it was "certainly a terrible incident," it was "a local matter" to be handled by local authorities.

When pressed about whether Trump had asked local authorities about the death of Eric Garner, the father of five who died after a police officer put him in a choke hold in Staten Island in 2014, Sanders said she was not aware of any specific action and reiterated that the president believed these were "local matters."

But people have taken to the streets in recent days in Sacramento and Baton Rouge, Louisiana — where the state attorney general announced that two white police officers will not be charged in the 2016 shooting death of Alton Sterling — to protest the killings and police violence more broadly. In Sacramento on Tuesday, hundreds of protesters took over the main foyer at City Hall and disrupted a special city council meeting.

"You said these are local issues. With respect, this seems to be an issue that the entire country is grappling with: These tensions of communities of color and police departments," NBC White House correspondent Kristen Welker said. "Does the president not need to show leadership on this issue?"

"We want to find ways to bring the country together," Sanders said. "But when it comes to the authority on the rulings that have taken place in the last few days, those are things that have to be done at a local level. They are not federal decisions at this time."

When Sanders was pressed further on whether the president feels "like he needs to do something" about black mothers fearing for their sons' lives, she responded:

"I think we should do every single thing we can every day to protect the people of this country — whether they're black, white, hispanic, male or female, rich or poor — we look for ways to protect the individuals in this country, particularly children."

umm this shyt started on Obama's watch, he didnt do shyt either

You can consider bringing national, personal attention to the issues, working to start demilitarizing the police, and putting a record number of police departments under investigation including forced reforms for many departments was "not enough." And I would agree. But you can't claim it was nothing.

Did you read the report on the Ferguson PD?

What would you have preferred Obama do?

I've read a lot of articles complaining about Obama not doing enough, yet they rarely offer practical solutions as to what Obama could have done. Without public support behind any serious action the blowback would be tremendous and counterproductive. WE need to be doing more, and that matters a lot more than any politician. We should be the ones defunding these departments.

Didn't Obama start this thing? Home - Police Data Initiative

I remember cries of it being the start of a nationalized police force by some people. I'm not all that familiar with it, but it's not "nothing" even if it is indeed not "enough"

Like I've said before on here.

It's easier to deny that there is a problem than acknowledge one exists. If society acknowledges that there is a problem of misconduct and mistreatment in regards to "minorities", then this further implies that a solution "should" be implemented to correct this error. Factions of society are built on the oppression and negative perception of minorities(NRA).

For example the brute, uncivilized, black male who unless tamed will rape white women and kill white people; justifies mass incarceration, discrimination, marginalization, gentrification and the process of exclusive privatization throughout various aspects of society.

When this concept is ingrained into the minds of benefactors of the social hierarchy in America, it becomes easier to turn a blind eye to atrocities.

the other choice for potus said this...
We have to face up to systemic racism. We see it in jobs, we see it in education, we see it in housing. But let’s be really clear; it’s a big part of what we’re facing in the criminal justice system. African American men get arrested, charged, convicted, and incarcerated far more often and for far longer for doing the same thing that white men do
the obama admin laid a roadmap for combating the issue. clinton was on board with that. now we got cheeto saying there's nothing to see here. bunch of fools still saying "they're the same". every day we see how different they are.

mandatory police retraining, the main issue here is that cops are taught their lives are more important than ours. they're prepared to shoot everything moving before theres even a hint of danger. they need to actually physically engage with a suspect BEFORE shooting them.

also remove the legal protections that let's cops shoot everyone with no consequemces.

hey how about holding police responsible for their actions
