:why:

What was the "Mad Men" deal tho?

Long story short, AMC gave a huge chunk of money to Matt Weiner and "Mad Men" (around $30 mill) when it came time for them to renegotiate their contracts.

That left less money for "Breaking Bad" and "The Walking Dead". So Frank Darabont was fired, and they tried to make season 5 of "Breaking Bad" 8 eps total. Vince Gilligan was like :heh: "get the fukk outta here" and threatened to take the show to another network. AMC was like :whoa: and gave him 16 eps.

The thing about "The Walking Dead", AMC owns it. So that show couldn't get a better deal even if they tried. Sony owns "Breaking Bad" which is why they could tell AMC to fukk off.

What are walking deads ratings compared to bb and mm?

Can't even compare them breh. "The Walking Dead" is hands down the most popular cable show on any network. Showtime, HBO, whatever. I'm talking, 10+ million viewers. "Mad Men" is around 2 million. "Breaking Bad" is around 2.5-3 million.

Maybe. I don't understand them honestly. Seems to me if you got a hit like "The Walking Dead" you'd give them $30 mill, not "Mad Men". You can't pay the bills with Emmys.

Something else I forgot to mention.

Frank Darabont never publically went into detail about what happened at AMC, but his homeboy did. The zombie in season 1 with the grenade in the tank is Frank's homie....he did a long ass interview going in on AMC. He said they flat out told the cast that if any of them spoke out against AMC (in relation to them firing Darabont) they'd be killed off and nobody would care/notice because it's a show about zombies, characters die all the time.

the team that oversaw the development of BrBa/MM is not with AMC..They moved on or whatever and the main cac at AMC is just $ hungry and has failed to develop another show...The Killing/Hell on Wheels is his stuff and they dont really have anything in the pipeline...After one more season of BrBa and 2 seasons of Mad Men they will have an aging walking dead and a bunch of garbage

Matt Weiner is obviously amazing writer for his work on Sopranos and creating Mad Men. though it is overrated in my opinion by the older whites in media who love the 60s. However, Weiner pulled an all time stunt in his negotiation, basically went full out and said he wasnt coming back... At the time Walking Dead wasnt a surefire mega hit so AMC had to keep him on the show so the cast would stay and so the media wouldnt kill them. Weiner took so much $ they had to take $ from BrBa/Walking Dead which both get more viewers
