The build up to this match was dope. The match itself was :ehh: Even Austin and Taker admit their matches together were mediocre at best
A testament to Austin's limits after the neck injury. He couldn't bump around like he needed to to have a classic with Taker, and it made no sense for Taker to work the under as he was the bigger man (he does an amazing job of this against bigger opponents and has carried damn near every random WWE big guy to good matches by bumping around for them) .

That whole summer for the WWE was just :banderas:

I knew from then that WCW were getting left in the dust.

The go home show for Summerslam was probably the GOAT go home show and probably top 5 Raw of all time.

Before I go to refresh my memory on the Network, I’ll ask here: what was WCW doing against SS 98 buildup?

Wolfpac were over, and obviously Goldberg was huge, but that summer I really noticed the quality of Nitro was lacking. It was becoming a chore to watch - made worse due to it being 3 hours.

And that's despite WCW's roster still being way better than WWF's. But it meant nothing because the booking was so terrible.

Didn't help that Austin got KO'd a minute into the match and Taker had to walk him through the entire thing.
