The two most prominent black actors in the MCU killed their roles so much that Marvel couldn't replace them.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I was ok with them not recasting T'Challa. Boseman's performance was so polarizing that they couldn't fathom replacing him.
Majors short stint with Marvel was so powerful that they didn't even decide to recast after firing him.

But it's starting to become a pattern.

They couldn't introduced casual fans to Miles Morales in Civil War instead of going with Peter Parker... :mjpls:

Wakanda Forever cleared $859 million without it's star character. Black Panther did over $1.3 billion with a weak overseas box office.

Basically, black actors proved, they could earn given the right opportunity and budget. But, the stereo types still remain. The stigma still remains. Marvel has seriously dropped the ball on this. They didn't want to take a chance in putting Wakanda to the forefront of the MCU at all, and it's basically on the backburner.

:why:Why would they introduce Miles before Peter?
wouldn't have made a difference. Sony has the rights to the Spider-Man property, not Peter Parker specifically :yeshrug: if you gotta deal with Sony either way, logic says you go with the more established person.

Now... if they'd have had the good sense to give Miles a personal hero name, they coulda squeaked by. but it would have been undermining the character and the actor put in that position because he'd be called DEI Spider-Man for his whole career despite the rich and different history of Miles Morales.

Moreover... we love to claim Miles. But he isn't ours exclusively. And with the way things been lately, it wouldn't surprise me if they had Miles Morales as played by Bad Bunny just to spite people asking for him at this point :francis:

Technically they recasted cap with a black actor, and his solo film is about to release.
seems like they are making him the face of the MCU right now.

They were initially trying to pivot to captain marvel, but we might not be seeing her in a lead role ever again.
