Although Hellwig was short on wrestling ability, his phenomenal build and exotic personality transformed him into one of the icons of the Rock-n-Wrestling Era where he worked as the Ultimate Warrior. However, as surreal as Hellwig’s promos were on the microphone, they paled to the reality of Jim Hellwig’s personal life and opinions. Hellwig would have a love/hate relationship with the WWF, eventually changing his name to “Warrior” to stymie Vince McMahon’s efforts to keep him from working under the name he became legendary for. Over time, Hellwig would reconcile with the WWE, but he never withdrew any of his outrageous statements or beliefs, leading fans to wonder how the WWE keeps him in the Hall of Fame despite his comments.
