I would wager that the police states that currently exist in the low income sections of American inner cities are more intrusive then ANYWHERE in the world.

West Baltimore has 24 hour survellience cameras

on just about every other block (583 as of 2012)

they also have the surviellence cameras of most of the private buisnesses in the city giving them 24 hour feeds (over 1000).........

the public tranportation system, which mostly poor people and the children of them ride, record EVERY word said on them along with video recordings

Everyone knows the schools in these areas are horriable but yet they are still allowed to be horriable...............

Everyone knows most of the kids in these areas come from poor homes but yet no one cares that most of them wont be able to obtain summer jobs (and earn much needed money) because of the shortfall of them.......

Everyone knows, on varying levels, the police are repressive in these enviornments but they are allowed to reppress.......

Everyone is aware of the dispporotionate violence that happens in these enviornments but VERY FEW care to get to the root of the issue, most simply remove the symptoms............

If you're not partaking in any criminal activities then why would you trip of this..they got 1000s of cameras all thru one of many casinos in Vegas..it's there so people don't try any dumb shyt..cameras in stores so people don't steal..im not saying that I agree with cameras in the hood, but I don't think it's wrong..

surveillance cameras are accepted because there is a need for documentation.
schools being horrible in the inner city is just happening cuz the well to doers are moving their kids into private or charter schools and people just dont care in the hood.
the police in my hood really aint that bad and i accept them cuz they let me get off with outstanding warrants and occasional infractions as long as im insured.
the violence is just what it is.

those cameras have been all across chicago for almost 10 years now and I just recently found out that half of them can hear any conversation within a mile distance, can see ALL activity taking place (murders, fights,robberies, drug dealing etc) yet these pigs are acting as if they can't catch a killer or lock up these drug dealers

I go back and forth on this. I think its a definite invasion of privacy but at the same time I agree that if I'm not doing anything wrong why should I be worried..

If you are not partaking in any criminal activities why wouldnt you trip off this? Someone monitoring ur comings and goings, ur conversations, ur location, etc simply because u are living in a certain part of town?

Comparing Casino survelliance to being monitored at ones home is about as stupid a comparison as one could make in this situation.

whats interesting is how shortsighted people allow themselves to be in regards to the survelliance issue.......

weather ur aware or not this government is getting more and more intrusive into people's personal freedoms..........

eventually people will take a stand against these intrusions. They will start to speak, protest and probably riot against this government.....

the government knows this, these tools they are putting in place (under the guise of crime prevention) will just as quickly be used as tools of suppression when needed...

with the survelliance tools that they have in place they will be able to monitor who the protestors are, where they live, what you drive, where you work, track/review ur habits/associates/etc and take whatever steps it deems necessary to quell the dissension against it.

The fact is.......people are still getting shot and killed in this city (and others) at a crazy rate, people are still committing crimes in this city (and others) so what exactly are the cameras preventing?

Here are Baltimore's crime statistics before and after the survelliance systems were implemented in the city........by your misguided thinking you should be able to simply look at this chart and tell me when the cameras were installed. So when were they?
