That’s the exact kind of democrat we need. Unapologetic and refusing to back down to these fascists. The problem with so called “centrists” is they have no real beliefs. How can you be expected to change society for the better when you don’t even have an idea of what better is?

they need to bring rep back because @Arianne Martell deserves a rep for this thread.... it's crazy to me that teaching history to white children makes them hate themselves... what a dumb line of reasoning.... so if a family migrated from the uk to amerikkka, would that child be taught to hate themselves if the teacher taught the class about the revolutionary war....? maybe we should strip that from textbooks... you know, we wouldn't want that white child to grow up to hate themselves.... republicans are so demonic.....

They'd say, "These teachers aren't just teaching history though, they're teaching white kids to hate themselves!" and then bring up some fringe lesson out-of-context to tar thousands of teachers who have nothing to do with it.

The whole argument over children feeling shame for learning history isn’t made in good faith and even if it was it doesn’t make sense.

I’m pretty sure everyone who has ever taken a history class learns “Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it”. That tells you all you need to know about their motives. They want history to be repeated.

Could you imagine children in Florida learning about Reconstruction Era Voting Rights Acts and then looking around and realizing the same variations exist in 2022? Republicans would lose their hold on Florida in a generation.

Or seeing the history of redlining and blockbusting and seeing real undeniable examples the game ACTUALLY is rigged against Black people on an institutional level.
That totally blows the self-victimization stereotype out of the water. And so that means they’ve been hating on people that the book they claim to love so much (The Bible) is in direct opposition to their actions and that calls into question their Christianity and therefore their entire identity. They literally can’t handle the truth and do everything in their power to avoid ever needing to.
