when i was in elementary school back in the mid 90's a couple of my friends were put on drugs for this. I knew even as a kid that it was some fake disorder.

People are born with it. People with ADHD often have chromosomal abnormalties.

They need stimulants in order to focus. What you don't understand is that there are a lot of things that require no focus for normal people, but are mentally exhausting for people with ADHD. You can have a 5 minute phone conversation with your friend without having to exert mental effort, because you have the mental energy to concentrate. For someone with no mental energy, a simple task like that requires so much mental effort it is exhausting. So drugs like adderall give their brain the boost they need to function like everyone else.

Of course breh. Don't you realize you've been brainwashed by society to believe these disorders exist when all you have to do is be a good parent? If you smacked your kid around once in a while he'd be straight. But parents are soft these days so now we have all these ""disorders"" to make excuses for their failures.

ADHD is real, but over dianosed like crazy. if more parents cared to actually discipline their children and provide them with structure and stability, the number children on ritalin and similar drugs would dramatically decrease.
