There is arguably no busier man in Hollywood than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. The former wrestler has used his charisma to increase his popularity, which has led to him becoming one of the biggest names in the business. He’s attached himself to various franchises over the years, but now has the star power to headline his own projects and get them moving forward strictly based on his involvement.

He is no stranger to taking pre-established IPs and giving them his touch, as he’s doing with Jumanji and Baywatch this year. With a connection in the DC universe as well, he has no shortage of projects to keep him busy, but that will not stop him from tackling a live-action adaptation of Rampage . The video game adaptation will see The Rock encounter gigantic monsters and looking to help them, once filming begins shortly.

The Rock took to Instagram to give a run down of his 6-hour meeting with Warner Bros to work on the script for Rampage, but used it as an opportunity to reveal more details about his character and when filming will begin. The Rock will be playing a character that is the head of an anti-poaching unit in Rwanda. He likely got this position thanks to being a Primatologist (someone who studies primates). Character details aside, The Rock also revealed that Rampage starts shooting in April.

Seeing as there’s little built-in lord to the Rampage video game property, there’s not much that be discerned about The Rock’s character ahead of time, outside of what he chooses to reveal. That said, as is always the case with actors and specifically The Rock, it is always great to see him taking the role so seriously and getting the life experience to make the role more believable.

As for the April shoot date: this is slightly earlier than the timeline The Rock mentioned nearly a year ago, though given how the project has been developing of late, it’s not so surprising that things are moving along faster now. The Rampage movie’s cast is starting to come together now too, with both Naomie Harris and Joe Manganiello having now joined the film’s acting roster, along with Marley Shelton.

Rampage director Brad Peyton and the rest of his crew will continue to finalize the script for the film in the weeks to come, while also completely filling out the rest of the cast. It should only be a matter of time before cameras start rolling, but in the meantime we can only wait to see what other details will come out before then.
