With the beginning of Comic-Con just a couple days away, the influx of news about forthcoming comic book movies (like what titles Marvel has planned for release through 2019) will increase exponentially. And there's no official word on DC Entertainment having a presence at Comic-Con, we're betting the Warner Bros. panel on Saturday will have a couple of surprises, and one of them just might involve Dwayne Johnson. The actor has been teasing involvement in some kind of DC Comics property, and while past stories have linked him to Lobo, it sounds like our answer might have already come from the past. Read on!
In an interview with Total Film, Johnson had this to say about the DC Comics property that he's working on:
"I will say this. There's a character out there that we're going to announce very soon that I'm going to play, and I'll just say this: This character has the power of Superman, he can throw down. Just say the word. That's all I'm going to say."
And comic book fans have probably already guessed that Shazam seems like the most viable option in that capacity. And if that's the case, the leaked timeline of Warner Bros. comic book properties is sounding more and more accurate. The list had Shazam hitting theaters in July 0f 2016, and if that's the case, we wonder if the studio is hoping to include Johnson as Shazam in Justice League somehow. What's interesting about Johnson potentially playing Shazam is that he was once linked to an adaptation of the superhero back in 2007, but he was supposed to have the role of Black Adam. However, plans for that film fell through a couple years later. Here's hoping Johnson shows up at Comic-Con with an announcement
