Players making more money than ever...
Teams worth more than ever...
Nba signing record setting media deals...
But the league has "challenges"
Even the lowly spurs are raking in dough cause they got a 7 "5" meta human shamgodding other 7 footers but the league "has challenges" :mjlol:

The discourse can't be saved

Before the Knicks winning streak, SAS was saying he was sour on the Knicks. Now he's on TV saying they should trade for LeBron

Yup. Same dikkhead demanding the Knicks trade for Dame after they got knocked out the playoffs like Brunson wasn't the best player in each series

This is who casuals look to for basketball insight

Next generation doesn’t matter to basketball heads. It’s more for the casuals, but even then do casuals watch or spend money on the NBA?
:yeshrug:
Regular season won’t be addressed outside of the tweaking of the IST. Owners and players won’t give money back by playing at 62 game schedule.
:mjlol:
Can’t save defense unless you bring hand checking back. That won’t happen. The league is more efficient than ever. I just can’t stand the spamming of 3’s though.
:yeshrug:
Media rights will suck. They will get a nice agreement this year but how many platforms will we be watching from? I think ABC and TNT will be straight. Some streamer will get the IST rights. The next batch of rights, the NBA will not have any growth.

Lebron and Paul will get Vegas. Seattle will get a team as well.

Gambling helps the NBA.

Can’t compete with the NFL.

Yea, people just like being dramatic and miserable.

Hell, it's funny observing the coli at times.... We'll have 5 straight nights of great wire-to-wire playoff intensity games in January... but have their be two nights of blowouts and all you see is "this is why i don't watch the NBA anymore! Players don't even try " :dead:

Them same nyggas was ghost the prior week:mjlol:

FOOTBALL

There are plenty of reasons the NBA should be the king of the American professional sports landscape. No league has done a better job in the past 10 years of marketing its stars, engaging with pop culture, and cultivating a younger generation of fans. And yet, the NFL continues to crush the NBA in the most important metric of all: eyeballs.

The NFL dominates the NBA (and every other sport) in traditional TV ratings, and has come for the streaming markets too. (This is your reminder to cancel the Peacock subscription you bought to watch Dolphins-Chiefs in the playoffs.) During Roger Goodell’s tenure as commissioner, the NFL has come for the NBA calendar every chance it could, and has won—most notably in asserting its dominance on Christmas.

I’m interested to see whether Silver can level this playing field and cut into the NFL’s stranglehold on viewership. (Has he considered courting Taylor Swift?) Goodell is not going to give an inch. It wouldn’t surprise me if somewhere in the NFL offices in New York City, Goodell has employees trying to figure out how to market something like Minicamp Madness to pull some attention away from the NBA Finals in mid-June. I do think the NBA has a fighting chance here; as youth football numbers dwindle and the NFL continues to face existential crises and ugly headlines, the NBA could position itself as a perfect foil, if Silver is up for taking on Goodell’s Goliath.

lmao NBA does a better job marketing its stars? NFL Films, Tom Brady, Mahomes' the GOAT, the Kelce brothers, and more. NFL dominates NBA in terms of storytelling. NBA is full of drama queens that make noise on social media. NBA has done a better job engaging with pop culture than the NFL and its Taylor Swift-Kelce love story? Purdy is Mr. Irrelevant and he's going to the Super Bowl. There's the story in the rise of the Lions who have historically been a joke, the Eagles and their victories and striggles. Brady's retirement, the Texans getting lucky with a Rookie QB that took them to the divisionals. NBA makes more noise than NFL but does not have better stories or do a better job at marketing their players by a damn sight.

NBA cannot even hope to compete with the GOAT, the NFL.

You obviously didn’t write the article or topic of conversation before you responded as it noted “future problems” and not current ones

There are no "future problems".

Same crackers who told you "the double apron will ruin basketball and no teams will be able to trade players and all these non superstar players won't get paid" are the same crackers telling you "if the lead doesn't fix this thing that isn't broken they going to be in trouble in x years".

Dunno. When you look at the NFL they're very protective of their brand and it results in less bullshyt like that. You actually see segments about football, schemes, details, etc. Is that partially because we're a football addicted nation and you can get away with analyzing a 4-3 defense on television in ways that you couldn't get away with for basketball? Sure. But I don't see ESPN crucifying or attempting to harm NFL QBs the way they do with NBA superstars. There's a clear animosity and resentment being tapped into and lets be frank: a lot of that has to do with race. NFL is gonna protect the shield and its brand whereas the NBA will do nothing. We're at a point where Luka and Tatum, likely the next faces of the league, are already facing ridiculous attacks and criticism as the media tries the LeBron gameplan on them. How long can guys be called losers or have their heart questioned before Silver does something?
