When most people hear that, it bothers them. Why? I feel like people hold a grudge against others that know how to make money. Most multi millionaires are first generation and weren't born with a spoon in their mouth. If they have money then more power to them.

You know most millionaires are new millionaires because they are usually in the later stages of their careers, commanding higher salaries and gaining investment windfalls so that does not constitute the "rags to riches" meme that I think you are associating with that idea.
To answer your question, people generally have a grudge with the rich getting richer because the poor and middle class are getting much poorer, and seeing their incomes stagnate in relation to the great wealth being accumulated by the rich and super rich.

I know why they begrudge the rich but it doesn't make sense to me. It seems almost like jealousy.

It's not jealousy, its actually based in rationality. If you look at the statistics, most of the economic GAINS in the society have gone to the rich. In colloquial terms, the rich have been getting a larger share of the pie without the pie itself expanding. Therefore they are taking more and more of the pie from the lower and middle classes. That is the cause of some of the resentment, on rational terms.
Exactly. Just take at a look at the productivity gains made by American workers. Now take a look at the gains made across the economic spectrum. median wages have remained stagnant over the last 30 years, while the income/wealth gains made by the rich have grown astronomically. It's not even close and that's the problem.
