I never saw the trailer for this film, so I was blindly brought into the movie with close to no real expectations. I later checked that Art-House Director Alejandro González Iñárritu directed it and Leo and Hardy starred. I went on to finish the film. This is Inarritu best work to date. The film is visually stunning which brings alot to the setting of the film. The directing in this film is superb when the director drags the audience into the film with a feeling of being there with the characters and in their world with many of the long shots. AGI also focuses alot more on the main character struggle to survive with emotional and physical content than just lines of dialog. He brings a story to the public of a rare look at history( brutal) in the Americas at the time and of a man who was a mysterious person of the frontier.

This film isn't for those who like short, fast pace films. This is for those who like a movie with in-depth story and large amounts of character development. There are some really good and realistic fight scenes for those searching for eye candy. The Bear scene alone was...:whoo::damn::mindblown::merchant:.

Most definitely one of the best films of the year and highly recommended movie. I do have a hang up on why the Native American aspect of the film should have been dealt with better, it was at least treated with respect unlike another film( Ridiculous 6).
