The RETURN of Tales From The Crypt (2017)

TNT is officially bringing Tales From the Crypt back from the dead. The network announced on Thursday that they have given a greenlight to the horror anthology revival series, which will have a ten-episode order under the auspices of M. Night Shyamalan. The series will premiere in 2017 and will see the a newly-reinvented version of the Cryptkeeper as host.

The new series will anchor a horror block which will include Time For Death, a season-long anthology series, and Creatures. Shyamalan said of the news, “I’m really thrilled about the way this horror block is coming together with the addition of Time of Death and Creatures. That such a beloved property like Tales from the Crypt is launching our evening makes it an even more unique and exciting opportunity. Across the board, the level of talent has been very inspiring.”

Time of Death will be an anthology of season-long horror tales that unfold in real time – each one taking viewers hour-by-hour through a single “long night of hell.” The first season will follow a murderous psychopath who returns to his Midwestern hometown during the annual county fair to exact revenge on a community he believes destroyed his life. Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy wrote the pilot and the plan is for future season to be inspired by the traditions of other horror subgenres.

Creatures is a psychological thriller that tells the disturbing tale of two former best friends who, at 12 years old, tried to cut out their classmate’s heart as a sacrifice to an internet bogeyman they invented called Mr. Gorgi. Fifteen years later, the two young women have been released from a psychiatric institute into their small town in Alaska, but it’s not long before they start to feel the alluring and terrifying presence of Mr. Gorgi once again. Creatures is a story of deep friendship and dark obsession, where a vivid imagination meets the power of suggestion and the seduction of belief.

Man I know we are a long way from when hbo was hardcore and cable was soft. But I'd still rather see this be a cinemax or hbo production.

Crypt Keeper was a real nikka. If they fukk him up we gon have some problems.

They should let him co-run it with Lloyd Kaufman (from Troma) cause Lloyd would keep him from going too far in the serious/artsy direction and Shamalan would pull Lloyd back from the mega-gorey/b-movie direction... and we'd endup with slightly silly, slightly artsy, gorey but not too gorey solid horror episodes with twist endings.
