I'm no film historian, but was this the first time that Kemetians (Egyptians) were accurately depicted on screen to a major audience?

You had Eddie Murphy as the Pharaoh, Iman as his Queen, Magic Johnson as the head of the Pharaoh's guard, and the video was directed by a young John Singleton.

I remember watching this as a shorty and being proud as fukk seeing my folks shown in this manner.
